Universal Health Care? Why Not!

In light of our new awesome government, I felt it best to use this month’s Wisdom Shot to educate you on what you will need to navigate your way in this new "changed" world with the utmost understanding and discernment.  so here ya go…

Pre$ton Ely’s 5 Step Must-Have
Guide To Living In A Socialist Society

1.  Stop working.

There is no point in doing that anymore, thank the Lord!  From now on, 99% of us logically-inclined people can sit back and let the much stupider percentage do all the work, and we’ll all split the income!  Even Steven!  I mean, what’s the use in working if you’re gonna get taxed at the new average rate of 10,000%?  So consider yourself officially retired – Hooray!  I’d throw confetti at your face right now if I was there with you.  Let the good times roll!  Freedom has arrived!  You should get another tv and have 5 more babies.  We’ve got you covered.

2.  Feel free to get sick and injured as much as you want.  Knock yourself out.  Literally!

Prior to our new awesome communist – I mean socialist – society, people had reasonable incentive to stay healthy.  If you didn’t … you would have to pay for medical care.  Well we all know that paying our own personal money to health professionals who give their very lives to serve us is absolutely absurd.  It should be free!  The nerve of those doctors.  Getting paid for saving lives??  Well never fear – help is on the way.  Universal health care will ensure that doctors make no more than car mechanics and suck at healing people totally because only a complete dumb ass would go to school for 8 years to earn minimum wage and have Uncle Sam for a boss.  But that’s ok.  I mean, how much is a human worth really?  We’re just overgrown monkeys, right?  Haha!

Bad news — >  Universal health care involves the government running the health care industry.

Let me ask you a personal question … on a pain scale from 1 to 10 … How much do you enjoy sitting at the DMV (a.k.a. "Satan’s Armpit")?  Ok … now multiply that pain by about seventy thousand times or so.  That is your new doctor visit.

But it’s worth it.  It’s FREE!  Like all things should be!  And don’t worry … there will be tv’s there for you to watch.  They will have rabbit ears since the government feels bad for the poor people who can’t afford the digital conversion, but rest assured … they will be there tuned to MSN for your brainwashing enjoyment.

3.  Stop smiling.

This one is really important.

Have you ever been to the U.K.?  Neither have I.  But I assure you, no one is smiling there.   Not just because of all the bad attitudes either.  They’re not smiling on account of the captives, I mean citizens, pull their own teeth instead of submitting themselves to the far greater torture of the current socialist health care system.  I’m serious.  Google it.

I just googled "Britain" and this came up first …

"God, when I open my eyes … please let me be in America.
Unless it’s the year 2009.  Then please just stick me back in."

Apparently you automatically get born with a frowny face there because you know what’s coming instinctively.

4.  Stop freely giving to the poor and needy of your own good will.

You’re not free anymore.  So stop doing ANYthing freely really.

As a matter of fact, if you’re about to do something freely, stop and ask yourself, "has Obama given me strict instructions to do this?" God forbid you try and think without someone’s help.  What are you trying to be a hero or something??  Put the cape away, Superman.  And make sure to pay the new "Cape Tax" too.

It’s such a pain to try and decide who you should be charitable to on a year to year basis.  Luckily for you, the government is going to do this FOR you!  You no longer have a choice!  Freedom is overrated anyways.  So now, instead of giving to churches, missionaries, and starving kids in Africa, the government will simply steal your money and give it to lazy people!

Are you finally starting to see the beauty in all this?

And don’t worry, these same beneficiaries have PLENTY of tv’s in their homes.  No need to go above and beyond.  Just let the government handle it.  Clearly they’ve proven they know how to handle money.

5.  Start wearing camouflage.

You’re going to be wanting to hide in the bushes once America fully loses her mind and goes social/commie on us.  Because people like my friends and I simply will not be able to tolerate it.  There will be blood.  Yes … there will be blood.

Make sure your camo matches the bushes.  Don’t be donning Desert Storm-Style gear in a green bush.  We’ll see you.  And slay you.

There are actually 2 more steps. But they will get me physically killed if I say them out loud.
Hope this helps.  You’ll be needing these sooner than you can imagine.

    Preston,

Now that was laugh out loud funny! Thanks man, I needed that!

  2. Paul Tomlinson Says:

I got a good laugh after reading this. If you’ve never dealt with universal healthcare before, you shouldn’t open your mouth about it. Maybe we can throw away our other socialist acts that we’ve created… like the police, fire department, libraries, etc..

I have had direct use of “universal healthcare” in Canada and in England. My parents moved from the U.S. to Canada some 20 years ago. Although my dad had significant hip bone loss and the U.S. system prescribed some heavy duty meds, the U.S. doctors would not perform a hip replacement operation. So, my dad limped heavily for 3 years while here and trip after trip to the doctor just resulted in more prescriptions. Bottom line is that three months after my parents moved to Canada, my dad had hip replacement surgery. Six months later we were racing bikes… something that would not have happened had he stayed in the U.S.

Go to a hospital emergency room in Canada. Last time I was there I was talking to a doctor within 10 minutes. MRI and some nice drugs. No cost. Try the same in the U.S. without health insurance.

Same deal with healthcare in England. Been there done that. Yeah, I was born in England but have lived in the U.S. nearly my entire life. However there are some things that folks in England find nearly laughable about the United States and one of them is our healthcare system. Gheeez. Have you ever had to deal with an HMO or any other system here where you need a referral to see a specialist? Ever get a bill because some slob who was drunk ran a red light and you ended up seeing a doctor who was not in your preferred network? That bill doesn’t happen in England. You simply go to ANY hospital, are seen, pay no medical bill, and can get drugs for the equivalent of about $10 each.

My recommendation if you haven’t watched the movie is to rent Sicko.
For some people you can never open their eyes to change. However I have relatives in both Canada and England with the relatives in Canada previously having lived in both the U.S. and England. We’ve had this conversation before and for the life of them they can’t figure out why the United States can’t figure out their healthcare system.

  3. Jay Palmquist Says:

Preston, that sums it all up. How might we combine the words “lazy” and “selfish” into a political philosophy?

    Great post!!!!! :)

  4. Joyce P. Says:

I’m concerned that a startup business, operating on frayed shorstrings will have to pay for health insurance for their first employee9s). This means they can’t afford to hire an employee until they have made it. which means they probably won’t make!

As the business takes off they will have to do ALL the paperwork, phone calls, return calls, create all the systems, write all the marketing bits, place all the ads, keep the websites updated, handle all the web marketing, do the books, etc., etc. Oh yeah and try to sleep a coupla hours a night.

If you haven’t started a business with no money or even credit you have no clue. A one person startup can’t afford to provide health insurance for the first several employees. Heck they don’t have health insurance for themselves cuz they can’t afford it.

So much for small business startups. Guess only well funded or the rare lucky beginners will be able to build successful businesses that can afford to hire American’s… when they can finally afford to hire their first few employees. No more hiring employees as soon as possible so the rainmaker can stay focused on building the business, then provide healthin insurance as soon as it gets to the point where they can afford to provide insurance.

I’m sure the qualified, hard working, people in India, Romania, Philippines, etc.will be grateful for the secure employment created by this bill.

I am for health insurance for employees. I am concerned about it being forced on businesses that are not yet bringing in enough income to afford the additional cost of health insurance, when they can barely afford to hire help at all!!!

How many success stories will be heard where someone begins a business with no job, no savings, not even credit cards and becomes a huge success. Not many if they have to do it all themselves until they have enough coming in to support the business and themselves Plus their families if they are not single.

And if they should DARE to hire some unemployed qualified people and NOT provide health insurance they will be penalized?? So what happened to a free market?

I do feel we need free medical care for all. Perhaps similar to the system in Canada. It is not the same as England’s entrenched socialized medicine and it’s not perfect. It does include decent western type care, including Chiropractic, dental and eye care.

Individuals are free to pay out of pocket for Traditional Chinese Medicine, Ayurvedic, Homeopathic physicians, Massage, acupuncture, etc. Homeopathic preparations are available at any dilution at Homepathic phramacies.

As for the cost? Maybe the government could buy hammers and other items at discount through a wholesaler? Maybe invest in Real estate, economize by cutting out do dads… Do we really need another pair of $5k candlesticks for the White House?

    Well, I can dream.

I voted for Barack Obama. I am disappointed and very distressed by how it is playing out. Does he have a clue what it’s really like out here? He said he didn’t want to get lost (trapped?) in the Washington bubble. It seems to me he is lost in it and totally out of touch with the people who worked so hard to support his election. :-(

I wonder if the secret service has completed dossiers on all his facebook friends yet?

  5. Russ Ruthruff Says:

Thank God for you Preston. Not only are you a great teacher, but, you love America too. Will America ever wake up in time. Only God knows. I pry they will!

  6. Sandy Stewart Says:

I felt a rush of adreneline when I read your post. In my head I was yelling . . YES. . .YES! Great post Preston (my boy). I was thrilled to see that there are like-minded people out there who are not so blindly accepting all that is being forced upon us at this delicate time in history. You are spot on. It is poeple your age and even younger that need to rally and vote next election to change the current course of this ecomomic destruction. Let FREEDOM RING

  7. Josiah Redding Says:

I agree with everything you said Preston … and thanks for finally putting words to my putrid LOATHING of the DMV office (aka, Satan’s Armpit)! That and the County Clerk’s office are the two errands in my life that will actually get me angry at someone!

Regardless of whether universal healthcare is convenient or nice to have, in the end it’s just going to pass another TRILLION in debt down to the next generation to pay off. It’s simply NOT free like everyone thinks.

From last fall to now, we’ve seen our country take huge strides toward socialism and/or communism. Government owned insurance? Banks? CAR COMPANIES? And they’ve had their hands in the mortgage business for awhile now… look how that turned out.

But basically, I’m tired of spending my time and energy on it. I’ve accepted it — America as we know it will collapse, and fold into something new. Whatever it is, and whenever it is, we just need to have the mental preparedness to either embrace it, or run like hell for Liechtenstein!

  8. Hugo Chavez-Rey Says:

Well Preston, like the old saying goes; “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink”!

And after reading what Paul Tomlinson wrote about healthcare in the U.S. vs Canada and the UK, I would replace “horse” with “jackass”. :o )

I think maybe Paul Tomlinson is really Michael Moore as a ghost writer; especially after he recommended watching Sicko (which btw, is MM’s nickname). LOL

Good job of laying out the reality about this Obamanation with humor mixed in.

  9. Deborah Arnett Says:

    Hey Preston!

Great Job on the Socialist/commie bit. I went to our local Town Hall meeting on Tuesday night and there were 2500 people. I do think the conservatives out numbered the “Give me my Free Everything” crowd. They just don’t understand that Obama Care will lead to rationing, death of the infirm in favor of those more viable and more job losses; this time in the health care sector.

However, this has been coming on us ever since FDR. It’s just more noticible now. Pretty soon we won’t even recognize our own republic unless we get the madness stopped.

  10. Deborah Arnett Says:

    Hey Preston!

You are right on! The White House is acting more like the Cremlin every passing day. If I hadn’t read the end of the book I’d be really frightened by what I see happening. If the massive spending, bailouts, cash for clunkers so they can buy un-american and free health care for those who haven’t paid into the system doesn’t stop we’ll know longer be a free republic.

People in England who need knew knees can’t get them and old people with cancer have to wait (and die) because the system can’t afford to treat someone too old to be of any $value$.

But, we should not be surprized. FDR started this whole socialist thing. It has happened slowly like the proverbial frog in a pot. Even W didn’t help. The Patriot Act went too far and TARP was his baby.

My ancestors who fought in the revolution and in the North during the civil war would be rolling in their graves saying, “I fought and bled for this!”. Has it all been in vain? Do we have a chance to turn it around before we end up in the slammer for being on the side of freedom. Only our Creator knows. “Look up for our redemption draws near.” Yeshua/Jesus
